In April 2012, Mark bought The Harbour Gallery in Portscatho. Using his skills gleaned from CoBRA, his writing and from web designing, Mark set about increasing the gallery’s profile and turnover.

At the end of the first financial year, the gallery had some of the country’s most exciting contemporary artists showing there, all of whom paint the Roseland and surrounding areas especially for the gallery, and he had increased the turnover by 63%.

Amongst the current artists painting for The Harbour Gallery are Andrew Tozer, Ilric Shetland, Lynn Golden, Robin Mason, Rachael Mia Allen, Hilary Stock, Jill Hudson, Ben Taffinder, John Raynes and Haidee-Jo Summers, to name but a few, and in July 2013, Mark agreed a partnership with two of the most exciting Eco hotels in Cornwall, The Scarlet & Bedruthan in Mawgan Porth, setting up galleries inside both hotels.

scarlet-bedruthan-logoWith help from and in partnership with the National Trust, Mark opened a hundred-year-old building, The Old Paraffin Store at St Anthony’s Head, which had laid unused for almost a century and now holds regular art exhibitions, 10% of the takings of which go┬áback into the trust.

Mark is currently working on a national project which will increase the awareness of Cornwall and the painters that work there whilst constantly increasing the ‘footprint’ of The Harbour Gallery with other partnerships for the benefit of both the artists and the businesses within in Cornwall.
